Grantham Gingerbreads
Ingredients
- 115 gms butter
- 240 gms caster sugar
- 1 large egg
- 255 gms plain flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground ginger
Method
- Cream butter and then add the sugar and beat together.
- Beat in the egg.
- Stir in the flour and ginger and work with hands into a firm but pliable dough.
- Roll into balls about the size of a shelled walnut.
- Place well apart on greased baking trays and cook in a preheated oven at 160ÂșC for 35 minutes.
Mum used to make these when we were growing up and as we got older we were able to make them on our own as they were quick and easy to make.
