Salted Caramel Bark
Ingredients
- ½ box original Salada crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- Big pinch of sea salt
- ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 large family block of dark chocolate, broken into pieces
- 1 cup chopped almonds, pecans, walnuts or other nut of your choice (top with what you like!)
- Extra sea salt flakes for sprinkling, optional
Method
- Place the crackers onto an oven proof tray.
- Melt the butter and brown sugar together and stir over a medium heat until it begins to boil.
- Once boiling let it bubble for 3 minutes. Stir well as it will thicken as it cooks.
- Remove from heat and add a BIG pinch of salt and the vanilla extract.
- Quickly pour the caramel over the tray of unbroken crackers and spread quickly as it thickens and sets as soon as it cools.
- Place the tray in preheated oven at 200ºC for 10-12 minutes, keeping an eye on the crackers so they don’t burn
- Remove from the oven and cover with broken pieces of chocolate and let it stand for 5 minutes, then spread them across the caramel using a spatula.
- Sprinkle the nuts and extra sea salt over the melted chocolate and leave to cool overnight.
- Break by hand into pieces and store in an airtight container and it will last a week.
