Sausage Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 kg sausage mince
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups fresh breadcrumbs
- 80 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbls tomato paste
- 1 carrot, finely grated
- Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 3 ready rolled sheets puff pastry
- 2 egg yolks, lightly beaten
- Sesame seeds
Method
- Using your hands, combine the mince, eggs, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, carrots and sea salt and freshly ground black pepper in a large bowl.
- Cut the pastry sheets in half.
- Divide the sausage mixture into 6 portions and roll each one into a sausage shape and place down the centre of the pastry.
- Roll to enclose, placing the pastry seam underneath.
- Cut each roll into three pieces and place on a baking tray.
- Brush with the egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Place into a preheated oven at 200ºC and cook for 25 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
I wanted to make sausage rolls one Saturday as friends were coming round but I didn't have a recipe and I found this one on the Donna Hay website and as always tweaked it.
